Iro and Dimitris were one of my crazy, fun couples. When I first met them at my premises they knew exactly what they wanted. They decided to get married in Sifnos where Iro’s family resides.

Sifnos is one of the many untouched Greek islands with rocky terrain and sandy or pebbled beaches. It has many beautiful whitewashed, quaint churches and it has become a hotspot for weddings in Greece. The wedding service was held at Chrisopigi which is one of the most popular churches on the island. The couple decided to have their wedding reception at Porto Lazarou which has a spectacular view and was large enough to cater for their 270 guests.

They wanted a wedding that was fun and appropriate to the islands feel and colours. Yellow and mint green were the chosen colours which added a playful, fresh note to their décor

While guests were waiting for the bride to arrive at the church with her father on a fishing boat - which was decorated with flowers and ribbons, guests were being treated to flavoured waters such as rose and mastic and an assortment of dried fruits and nuts.

Iro’s bridal bouquet consisted of white peonies, yellow tulips, white lisianthus, astilbe and ocean spray roses which suited the bride’s fun-loving nature.

Iro and Dimitri arrived by fishing boat to the venue and from the moment they set foot on the deck the music started to upbeat, mainstream music and from there on the couple did not leave the dancefloor till 7am. They were both so happy that their positive energy made all guests dance and have a blast! ( I even danced after so many hours setting up!)

The venue’s pergola was decorated with suspended mason jars filled with flowers and candles while coloured glass bottles were used on the table centrepieces. Guests were treated to traditional pottery cups made on the quaint island of Sifnos as well jars of homemade preserves made lovingly by Iro’s mom.

It was, without doubt, a wedding to remember!
