When Effie called me from London and said that she wanted to baptise her son in Greece on the lovely Kokotou wine estate, a picnic theme came to mind. Effie loved the idea and basically left everything in my hands. She was so easy going and was a pleasure to create for.
Effie wanted tones of beige and we incorporated hints of blue into the colour scheme. The church was decorated with two large baskets of wild flowers which suited the surrounding vineyards. The lambada was made to look like a direction post and bouquets decorated the doors of the quaint church of Saint George.
The venue was decorated with picnic spots for the children. A basket filled with paints, canvases, personalized bubbles, fruit and sweets kept the little ones busy while the parents enjoyed their afternoon. The candy bar was decorated with cupcakes, biscuits, cake pops and sweets decorated with kites and flags much to the children's delight(not that the parents didn’t have a helping hand). Bales of hay were added to the rustic décor while bunting flags with Stefano's name billowed in between the tall trees. Jam jars filled with flowers were hung from the wrought iron pergola.
The tables were decorated with a round place mat incorporating the same theme as the invitation with a mati soap keepsake for the guests. Blue hydrangeas, yellow freesias, babies breath, craspedia and lysianthos were used for the table centerpieces and a flag was used for the table numbers.
It turned out to be a relaxing afternoon for the adults and a fun-filled day for the children running around the estates gardens.
